The Virginia Tech Ski Team
The Virginia Tech Alpine Ski Team has been an active club since 1981. The club is coed and has a men's team and a women's team that compete in the Southeastern Collegiate Ski Conference. There is an A Team, a B Team, and a Practice Team to accommodate all levels of skiers. There is no racing experience required. The team competes during the Spring Semester in January and February. They race both the Giant Slalom and the Slalom events. The goal of the team is to provide its members with a chance to ski competitively on a consistent basis, and to assist all members in becoming better skiers. The ski team begins dry-land training from late September until December. These practices consist of soccer, ultimate frisbee, football, fitness, and exercise drills. On-snow workouts begin at Winterplace Ski Resort, in Beckley, WV during the second semester. The Ski Team competes at various locations in West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina during the regular season. The Alpine Ski Team is a fun and affordable way to meet new people while doing what you love.
